Eurail and Train Travel in France

France is one of the largest countries in Western Europe - There is much to see here! You could easily spend several months exploring it's many cities and medieval towns, from the rocky north coast of Normandy to the beaches of the French Riviera.

Travelling in France via the trains is pretty easy. Most towns are connected, and France also has one of the fastest trains in the world - the TGV. It can travel at speeds of 300km/h and will get you from one part of the country to another pretty quick. You will have to pay a supplement to use it though, in addition to your Eurail pass. It's not more than a couple Euro though.

Knowledge of English is limited in France, so you'll want to pick up a few words. Usually at the ticket counters in train stations there will be an international window, but they won't always speak English. Usually, there will be a picture of a flag posted on the window of someone who speaks the language. Look for the Union Jack.

Overall, France is a great place to travel. There are so many amazing places to see and things to do that it's essential to have a Eurail pass to get you from one point to the next.
