Spain is a large and beautiful country. Each region has their own culture and dialect (sometimes totally different languages!), the people are friendly, and it's difficult to find a town where there isn't some sort of festival going on!
Summer travel in Spain can be hectic - Many trains will be full of travellers, and you'll definitely want to make sure you've made a reservation on your trains, sometimes a few days in advance. The most popular city is Barcelona, with trains filling up very quickly each day.
The trains in Spain area bit of an experience - There's always something happening with them. One train I was on was actually stopped in the middle of nowhere by police who were looking for someone. I've also heard many stories of people having their belongings stolen on night trains. Use some common sense, and keep aware of your surroundings.
But don't let all that scare you - train travel in Spain is much the same as in the rest of Europe. Most people will also agree - Spain was one of the most exciting countries they've visited. Beaches, fiestas, siestas, food, wine, and great people.
