Eurail Netherlands - Amsterdam Train Stations Info and Reviews

Amsterdam Centraal Station

The main train station in Amsterdam is Amsterdam Centraal Station. You'll most likely want to spend as little time there as possible. You'll probably also be approached by any number of people asking you if you need a room or a hostel as soon as you step off the train - and unless you desperately need a room, just ignore these people..But you might want to check your reservations before you arrive, as Amsterdam's accomodations fill up quick.

There are a few small fast food places in the train station where you can grab a bite to eat, but while you're waiting in line watch your wallet. Amsterdam is notorious for petty crime, and I've even seen it happen on more than a few occasions there. Just don't make yourself a target, common sense goes a long way. That being said though, keep your chin up and unless you NEED to be in the station, don't be. There are plenty of other places to eat right outside the station.

The ticket office is usually packed with a long line up, so give yourself extra time if you need to buy a ticket or a reservation. Pretty much everyone speaks English as well, so communication shouldn't be a problem.
