Nice - Gare Nice Ville

The train station in Nice isn't particularly large or remarkable - But the trip via train to or from Nice is beautiful, especially if you come in on a night train and get to see the sunrise over the mediterranean.

The Nice train station is located a little over a kilometre from the beaches but it isn't very close to the local Nice hostel. You'll need to take a bus to get there, but luckily the bus is right around the corner where you need to get on. Follow the other backpackers.

Nice is well served with trains going in many directions including the TGV up to Paris and trains frequently departing for Monaco, just down the Riviera. Nice is also connected to Italy and is very close to the border with it only taking a short time for the train to get there.

The train station has a few washrooms located inside and outside, as well as a Thomas Cook currency exchange right outside the building. I found there to be a real lack of telephones in the station, but that may have changed since the last time I was there.

There are storage lockers available, and several small restaurants and bistro's in the are of the Nice train station as well.
